Melody's Echo Chamber - I Follow You

Melody Prochet, surrounded by an ethereal pink glow, sings in an angelic dream-pop voice that subsequently gives the hipster in the proverbial echo chamber, the weirdest boners of their lives.
On November 21 1985, identical twins were separated at birth. Despite their different upbringings, they both shared one invaluable trait. They were both born to make music. Carly Rae Jepsen was destined to become the ultimate one-hit wonder. Melody Prochet was destined to make indie dream-pop music that could only be appreciated by people who scour Pitchfork for the most obscure music possible to impress their friends. And that led her to meet Kevin Parker of Tame Impala after a show of their's in Paris. When music is in your blood. You know it.

Really, Melody was the lead singer in a band called My Bees Garden but they had one album and were neither famous nor very good. She also fronted the Narcoleptic Dancers, another French pop group in the same vain, but still, no love was being shown. Eventually, Melody Prochet got a great opportunity when My Bees Garden was supporting Tame Impala on the French leg of their European tour, and her and the bands leader, Kevin Parker, struck up a friendship. Parker saw the potential in her dreamy vocal ability, and she saw the sound she had always wanted for her records in Tame Impala's noisy psychedelic production. Thus, Melody's Echo Chamber was born, and the duo released their debut self-titled album in September 2012.  The first single, and best cut from the ablum, was a song called "I Follow You" and it is everything that is good about Melody's Echo Chamber, and dream pop in general.

Melody's dreamy vocals are the distinct beauty of a pretty French girl who is speaking English and you fall in love with the illusion of her existence when you meet her on a dark night on the empty lit streets of Brooklyn. If that sentence made any sense to you, you'll also love the production by Kevin Parker, which is layered and noisy, but also structured, perfectly complimenting Melody's distinct vocals style. Recorded mostly in Parker's hometown of Perth, Australia and Prochet's grandparents seaside Southern French home, it all comes together quite well, and you can probably imagine yourself in one of those two places listening to this record on vinyl.

There are no known pictures of either Kevin Parker or Melody Prochet with omnipresent galactic photographer Terry Richardson, but scientists are currently searching alternate universes for such photos.
They haven't been around for very long at all, but decent things might be coming in the future for Melody's Echo Chamber if they keep producing records as good as "I Follow You". Let's hope they do.

As always, enjoy and spread the love. Peace.
